As we embark upon yet another ski season, le t me remind you that as a region we seek worthy nominees for our distinguished Western Regional Award of Merit. This award seeks to recognize a deserving person who might otherwise go unnoticed for their friendship, dedication, and integrity as they serve in our skiing community. If you have someone that you think should be nominated for this honor, please submit their name and reason for consideration to you counsel person or to Larry Laughlin (skilaughlin@gmail.com) before the end of June 2019.

To have your photo included in the 2019 Western Regional Guide all Western Region Tournament event winners should submit a personal photo to the Regional Guide Committee Guide Chair, Ty Vaio. Deadline to submission of photos is December 1, 2018, see the current guide for email address for Ty on page W-35.

The following Western Region skiers have been named to AWSA teams to compete in the 2018 Pan American Water Ski Championships, Nov. 12-18, at Lago Los Morros in San Bernardo, Chile. The teams and skiers are as follows:

US Under 14 Team – Kendra Nathan (Canyon Lake, CA)

US Under 14 Team – Carter Reese (Walnut Creek, CA)

US Under 17 Team – Garrett Reese (Walnut Creek, CA)

US Over 35 Team – Brandy Nagle (Elk Grove, CA)

US Over 55 Team – Janie Fausold (Pleasant Grove, CA)

Team Physician will be Brandy Nagle (Elk Grove, CA)

Congratulations to all skiers selected to the team and good luck to all the team and independent skiers who are planning on attending the Tournament in Chile.

Congratulations to Lars Hedegaard, apprentice TC, for being selected the Outstanding Regional Tournament Official at the 2018 Western Regionals at Laku Landing. the award is presented each year to an official who has show to be extremely hard working and dedicated as voted on by the other volunteer officials at the tournament.
