The Western Region Merit Award
Formerly The Rich Slingerland Memorial Award
Every year since 1975 the Western Region has recognized a member or an official who epitomized friendship, dedication with integrity. The first award was presented at the US National tournament and is now one of the Western Region’s most prestigious honors. This award was established and is maintained for a deserving person who might otherwise go unnoticed.
All Western Region members are welcome & encouraged to submit nominations for this award to their local councilperson or to Richelle Muhlitner
prior to the Regional tournament.
AWSA has adopted a team skiing format for the Regional and National competitions in 2016. An outline of the competition can be found on Page 61 of the Western Regional Guide. Please check in with your team captains who are your Council Representative. Nine teams will compete at the West Regional’s for a chance to compete at the Nationals for the Team Championship. Get behind your team, train with team members, and cheer everyone on to make the Regionals an integrated competition. Maybe even pick up another event to help your team score points.
If you got 1st place at Regionals this year at Warman Lake, please send your photo to Stacy Holbert (email@example.com) for the Regional Guide ASAP!
